Four Seasons Resort Nevis

Four Seasons Resort Nevis

Nevis, a small island located in the West Indies in the Caribbean, may not be familiar to you. It is a part of the federation of Saint Kitts & Nevis and holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. Our stay on the island was at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis, situated on Pinney's Beach on the western coast.

Nevis experiences a wet season from July to December and a drier season from January to April. The off-season from July to December typically offers better deals. When we visited in early July, there were some short rain showers that quickly passed, leaving mostly sunny and hot weather for the rest of our stay. In the evenings, a pleasant breeze made it perfect for beachside dinners.

With our two children, aged 6 and 3, we stayed in a King bedded oceanview room. The room had a pull-out couch for extra sleeping space. While the resort provides mini cribs, we opted to bring an inflatable mattress for our youngest. Staying in a ground-level room with the kids was ideal, especially during naptime and after they were asleep.

I really appreciate one particular benefit of staying at the Four Seasons, which is their app. After making a reservation, you can easily communicate with the hotel through the app to make any necessary arrangements before your trip. I used it to schedule our dinner reservations and a family photo shoot in advance. During our stay at the resort, the app also came in handy for ordering room service or making other requests.

Food & Restaurants

Breakfast buffet Four Seasons Nevis
Breakfast mimosas were a nice surprise!

The resort provides a delightful breakfast buffet, complete with mimosas! We chose to have a late breakfast each day, taking advantage of the buffet's availability until 11am. This decision helped us cut down on lunch expenses since breakfast kept us satisfied until dinner. One morning, my husband and I left the kids at the Kids For All Seasons kids club and enjoyed a delicious burger and fries at On The Dune. It's worth noting that water is not complimentary at the restaurants. Additionally, you can easily order food at the pools or beach. One day, we decided to share a couple of pizzas by the pool, which made for a perfect and relaxing lunch. And just so you know, children aged 5 and under can eat for free at the resort's restaurants!

During our stay at the resort, we had the opportunity to dine at all three restaurants: Mango, On The Dune, and EsQuillina. Mango, located by the water, offered us a stunning sunset view when we arrived for our 6pm reservation. Our table was adjacent to rocks where we spotted horseshoe crabs, much to the delight of our children. Our meal at Mango included a delicious lobster appetizer, Wagyu steaks, and a delightful mango dessert. On The Dune, an alfresco dining spot near the beach, was where we chose to have an adults-only dinner by hiring a babysitter through the resort. The ribeye steak at On The Dune was a standout, possibly the best I've ever had. EsQuillina, the resort's sole indoor restaurant also housing the breakfast buffet, featured my husband's choice of a porterhouse steak and my selection of a chicken dish. The kids were pleased with the availability of chicken tenders at all the resort restaurants!

Prepare accordingly as drinks at the resort are costly. Fortunately, there is a nearby liquor store that you can reach on foot in just 15 minutes. Here, you can buy wine, beer, liquor, or juice to store in your room. While the canned water in the room is free, any other items in the mini bar will incur charges.

For those seeking an off-site dining option, be sure to visit Sunshine's located down the beach from the resort. The restaurant offers a beachy outdoor atmosphere where you can enjoy food and drinks. It's just a 10-minute walk from our room along the beach. I overheard fellow resort guests mentioning that they often head to Sunshine's in the evening for drinks after dinner.

Pools & Beach

The resort features three infinity pools. The Limin pool, situated centrally near the main lobby, is the newest and recently renovated. Our family preferred this pool for relaxing before and after breakfast due to its proximity to EsQuillina. The Calypso pool, slightly larger, is positioned near the splash pad and gym. The adults-only Soca pool is located close to the Kastawey Beach Bar, offering drinks and sushi.

Our afternoons were mainly spent at the beach, taking advantage of the free snorkeling gear, kayaks, and paddle boards available. The snorkeling experience near the shore was amazing! I witnessed schools of fish, a stingray, and a sea turtle swimming right by the beach. My 6-year-old and I thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling and exploring the beach every afternoon. Additionally, beach cabanas are available for daily rental.

Kids Amenities

Upon arrival at the resort, you will receive a weekly program for the Kids For All Seasons kids club, or you can check the app in advance. Although some activities may require payment, most are complimentary. During our summer stay, the kids club operated from 9 am to 5 pm daily, but in peak seasons, they offer evening activities for children. While the kids club room itself was somewhat lacking, it adequately fulfilled its purpose when we needed some adult time and dropped off the kids.

Additionally, we arranged for a babysitter on two evenings. She was truly fantastic. She escorted the children on a stroll to give them a change of scenery, while we opted for room service for dinner. It provided us with the ideal opportunity to enjoy a couple of adults-only dinners during our time there.

Kid-sized bathrobe at the Four Seasons

The children were very well taken care of by the staff. Upon our arrival, we found small cookie decorating kits, two stuffed monkeys, and two child-sized bathrobes in the room. Throughout the day by the pool, a staff member would often distribute frozen fruit or popsicles to the children. One day, I tried paddle boarding, and a staff member from the water sports desk spent time on the beach playing soccer with my 6-year-old.

Just a heads-up, if you usually use a baby monitor camera in your room for naptime, our WiFi camera didn't function at this resort (despite working in other locations). Make sure to bring a non-WiFi camera if that's your intention. Additionally, the TV in the room can easily connect to your device via Bluetooth if you wish to watch your own shows or movies.

Additional Activities

Green Vervet Monkeys running on the golf course at the Four Seasons Nevis

Ensure you take advantage of the complimentary Monkey Spotting Tour. This activity was available on several evenings while we were there. You'll have the opportunity to ride a golf cart around the golf course to observe the Green Vervet Monkeys that inhabit the island.

We also scheduled a family photo shoot with the photographer from Four Seasons, and we were thrilled with the results of our photos. We highly recommend this to families looking to capture memories during their visit. Simply reach out to the concierge to make arrangements.

In general, our time at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Starting from our arrival at Saint Kitts airport, the boat journey to Nevis, and all through our stay, we were treated to a delightful experience. The location was absolutely spectacular, and it was a perfectly relaxing vacation.
